    • Bij zijn begraafinformatie staat: Private Co D 112th NY Vol - enlisted 11 Augus 1862 for 3 years. Hij was dus als soldaat vrijwillig in dienst tijdens de Amerikaanse burgeroorlog.

      Bij gevechtshandelingen rondom Cold Harbor, Virginia, op 1 juni 1864 liep hij een wond op in zijn dij. Hierdoor was hij absent met verlof tot het einde van de oorlog.
