    Notes 
    • Hij heeft van 20 augustus 1862 tot 10 juni 1865 als 'private' gediend in de Amerikaanse Burgeroorlog. Hij zat in de compagnie 24 Wisconsin Volunteers. Hij is afgezwaaid op order van de War Department.

      In 1883 komt hij in aanmerking voor een 'national home for disabled volunteer soldiers'. Hij lijdt aan rheuma. Hij woont op dat moment samen met zijn vrouw Clara en drie kinderen onder de 16 jaar in Milwaukee, WI, waar hij als arbeider werkt.

      Op 31 mei 1883 wordt hij opgenomen in het huis. Op 14 augustus 1883 wordt hij dood gevonden, hij is verdronken in de Milwaukee rivier. Een dag later wordt hij begraven.
